“I joined eir because it is a very reputable company. I had friends working here and I’d heard that they treated you as a person – not just another employee number. So I started in a part-time role while I was doing my Business degree and went full-time when I finished. Since then, I’ve moved around and worked in a number of different roles, including Telephone Customer Service. But my current role is great because it fits in with the rest of my life. I can support my family and the pay is very competitive. I deal with customers, help them find what they want and sort out any problems. I’m also now a Mentor – which means I help new members of staff settle in. It’s a position of responsibility that also means taking charge when the manager’s away.
I think the best thing about my role is helping customers when they have a problem. There’s always a solution. You give them a smile and do your best to help. It makes my day when they say things like ‘You’re a star’ or ‘You’re a life-saver’!
Working at eir, you know that everyone’s working towards the same goal – and that the door is always open. There’ll always be an opportunity to move up. Although I’m happy where I am for the moment, I’d like to go into Business Sales or Management one day. It’s good to know that the sky’s the limit and that the opportunities are always there.”
