Candidates Hints & Tips

If we’ve asked you to visit us for an interview, you must already have impressed us. Here’s how to take it one step further and really wow us:

Do your research

  • Find out as much information as possible about the job before the big day
  • Read through the role profile in detail before you visit us
  • If you already know somebody who works here, ask them about the job, the business area and the structure
  • Read through your own CV before the interview - it’s likely that we’ll base some of our questions on the information you gave us

Brush up on your answers

  • Draw up a list of your strengths and weaknesses in relation to the job - we might ask you about these
  • Ensure that you can describe yourself and your experiences in and out of work—be prepared to give examples of occasions when you used particular skills and knowledge that would relate to the job
  • When we ask a question, it’s ok to pause so that you can compose a concise and relevant answer
  • Give us plenty of information and don’t be afraid to elaborate on any issue when we ask you to
  • If you don’t understand a question, it’s fine to ask us to clarify what we mean

Make sure your first impression counts

  • Dress appropriately - we’re looking for people who appear professional, confident and competent
  • Be alert and aware during your interview - remember that non-verbal signals such as eye contact, facial expressions, and gestures are important
  • Finally, remember to speak clearly - and listen closely
